Northland Living Center opened in 1970 as a Long Term Care facility for both the elderly population and people with mental retardation under the name of “Northland Manor.” Over the past 30 years the facility has evolved into a premiere facility for services offered to adults with developmental challenges.

Since 1984 Northland Living Center has been owned and operated by North Country Associates. It is licensed under the direction of the Maine Department of Human Services and the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services. Northland Living Center is licensed as an Intermediate Care Facility for persons with Mental Retardation or ICF/MR. 

Northland Living Center residents have many health related issues as well as developmental challenges. Due to the complexity of the individuals, our home offers high quality 24-hour nursing services as well as a team of expert habilitation specialists. Our nursing department is comprised of professional and licensed nurses supervising a strong group of dedicated and knowledgeable certified nursing assistants. The Department of Habilitation Services is responsible for providing active treatment on a daily basis to the residents so that they will gain the highest level of independence in communication skills, activities of daily living, and social skills.

Upon visiting Northland you will see that every aspect of the facility is aimed toward making this as home-like as possible. The staff dress is casual and visitors can expect friendliness and hospitality.
 

DIRECTIONS:    Take Exit 133 (Old Exit 36) on I-95.  Follow Route 201 to Jackman.  Northland is on the left just beyond the Jackman Area Health Center on Main Street.
